Swap magic elf driving me mad... Help plz.
Hi Guy`s,
This swap magic ELF file is driving me insane Just can`t seem to get it to work right.
Ok here goes ...........all the info I have done.
ps2 slim model :SCPH 77003 Pal , Flip top lid .... Sony 8meg MC formatted.... Swap Magic coder version 3.8 Pal .
I have managed to create a MC exploit using Free_McBootv1.7 and all the files needed to do a default install ...from the swap magic tutorial here.
http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials..._swapmagic.htm
and followed this tut here to do a default install.
http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials...all_guide.html
My existing ps2 backups will only play via the SM original 3.8 ,So I would like to add the swap magic to the main browser screen ,up-on turning on the power to the ps2 I get a screen like this .
-=< FREE McBOOT>=-
Browser
System Configuration
uLauncherELF
ESR
HD Loader
Simple Media System
Free McBoot Configurator
-=< Version 1.7 >=-
There is no option to use Swap magic on the browser screen?
I have used this file swapmagic3.8coder_ELF both packed and unpacked and renamed it to SWAPMAGIC.ELF and placed this in the install folder root along with the recommended .ELF files in the default tutorial when I 1st loaded the MC from the usb......what`s best to use here ..unpacked or packed and what if any are the diffrence`s ?
There is no swap magic on the browser screen but all the other .ELFS show?
-=< FREE McBOOT>=-
Browser
System Configuration
uLauncherELF
ESR
HD Loader
Simple Media System
Free McBoot Configurator
-=< Version 1.7 >=-
I must be doing something wrong for the swapmagic option not to appear on the browser..but what??
I know I can use the ESR without swapping ..as I have tested this and it worked great once one of my packups was patched... But for all my remaining backups, would need to be done like this and it would take many hours even days ,as they all have printed covers ,so I would prefer to use Swap magic for my existing backups and I will use ESR from now with any new backups I create from my originals.
Please if some kind soul could guide me through, so as to be able to see swap magic via my McBoot browser ,and tell me exactlly how to proceed when using the swapmagic exploit from the browser or point me in the right direction,I would be most grateful ,
I have searched loads of post and threads and still can`t seem to get it to work as it should so if you could please spare so time with a guide it would really help me out.
I hope I have given you all the info and what I want from the McBoot to do but if I have missed anything out, I apoligize and will get what other info to you ASAP.
Thank you all for taking the time out to read and hopefully help me solve my problem.
ps:I forgot to mention I did get swap magic to load via using me original pal Brotherhood of steel
but could only get this to work a 1 off and now won`t seem to work again ,This was via the uLauncher browser then browsing to mc/o boot then selecting SWAPMAGIC.ELF
Best Regards Polosolo

yep you must enter cfg just hold start button while your are powering your ps2 the configurator should pop up you'll see it
can miss it...once there configure swapmajic with osdsys and only then you'll see swapmajic in the ps2 browser.
How to do this well enter the osdsys configuration once cfg has boot it..
Take care good hunting!!:d

You can even configure it to one of the buttons so you can boot straight into it...

I do not use the swapmagic elf but I do have cogswap elf configured to show in menu and to use it at boot without having to wait for the menu...
This is a lame example of what I would do:
Go to freemcbconfiguration:
(use any keys of your choice, this is just an example using the L1 key)
Code:
E1 Launch Keys (to use at boot)
L1: MC0:/boot/swapmagic.elf (this configures so when you press L1 at boot,
the file loads right after fmcb spash screen)
Osdsys cfg: (to show in menu)
Name: Swapmagic (name you want to show in menu)
Path1: MC0:/boot/swapmagic.elf (assuming swapmagic.elf is in that directory)
Path2: Your choice
Path3: Your choice
Hope this helps...

Did you even read, what I write ya in the other thread?

That's it.
But,... You ever need an original disc for swap magic, in order to swap to a backup.
You don't need the swap-Magic-Discs anymore, but still an original PS2-Game (at best with a high TOC).
|
...and why did you create a second thread about the exact same problem?
@all: Who visit this forum. Learn reading and if you want to install/configure FMCB read the (*edit*) manual!
If you can't get something to work,... Re-Read it and re-read it again, if it still will not work.

Hello m8,
Thank you for your help in the previous thread m8...But as you can see I have had problems and yes I do read...lol..I have been trying to get my head around the configurations page ..but alass I still needed help with the swapmagic elf.
Your previous explaination was VERY VAGUE to say the least as ...and as you can tell I am really rather new (to this exploit) I might add.

A diffrent problem mate and most definitely not the same as this post but somewhat similar, So needs to be a new thread . If you had taken the TIME TO READ the post fully you should have noticed it .
An example I recently found from one of your help posts .

If in SwapMagic, try the trick someone posted earlier, or try another USB-Device.

The guy has already stated it gets stuck at the SWAPMAGIC splash screen.
I won`t delve any further , m8 as you did try to help me out, and I advise you to make sure you FULLY READ THE THREAD AND UNDERSTAND IT Before you try slating peeps for not reading threads correct. (something which I always do) .
I have now managed to configure the swapmagic elf to boot from the L trigger and register in the McBoot browser.

What wasn't clear?
-Copy your ELF-File on a device, such as mc or mass-device and copy it anywhere on this, where you want
-start the configurator
-map your ELF to OSD

Quote from the FMCB 1.7 Tutorial
Configure OSDSYS Options...
-Configure Item 1 -100
Press left or right to select an item from 1 to 100
Here you can assign apps and give them a name that will display on the Sony main menu screen.
You can select up to 100 apps and they will be linked to the Sony menu.
The 3 sets of paths will be the search order the launcher will follow when booting the selected app from the list. The recommended apps are already pre-assigned and named.

Yes,... It seems to be like you said.
...the fmcb-installer (which he wanted to start) also has a logo now...
It also can stuck there,...
And also show me the sentence, where he declared that his FMCB-Installer doesn't start?
He said, that the screen, where he could put his codes in won't pop up.
That mustn't mean, that it freeze at SM-Logo.
If it Autostarts the FMCB-Installer, it won't show it also...

Well,... I read it and in the other thread you said, you wanted to get your SwapMagic running, without pre-booting the disc (and wanted to use FMCB, because of that).
The only difference is, that you get FMCB running and could map it to a button, but not to the OSD.
If I'm wrong, explain me the real difference.
No need to open a new thread in my eyes.
Btw.: I also see no point why doing this, except if you want to boot a 1:1-Backup without the original SM-Disc.
If you want to do this, I also already explained, that you will need an other PS2-Disc for swapping (at best with a high TOC).

Thanks m8 for your help again and hope my post here does not offend you in any way shape or form.
So many edits means just that and if you have read them all you will see nothing untoward. and certainly nothing I need to hide
I posted this thread with every bit of information which was needed to answer my problem and goals to what I had managed to do ,what problems I had encountered and what my ultimate goal was.
I recieved the answer and guide I was looking for as a direct result of this thread , and I would assume this will ultimatley lead to other users with similar problem , to the same result, which was what I was after .
So indeed this thread solved my problems and is justified.
Thanks again for your time and help.
Regards Polosolo.

Yes, I just mentioned it because of the "read-it"-discussion.

It might help those, which use the search-engine (and I hope they will).

About stucking at the splash screen:
It will stuck if a disc isn't in the drive when you launch the elf file.
Instead of inserting a disc (dead laser), you can just open the tray. After the file is loaded you can close it.
This also applies to those incorrectly patched hdloaders for no disc usage which don't run the games.
