Simple question in changing FMCB install

Short version is, I have been testing OPL which has left me with a corrupted MC on occasion. Not a big deal, I have a fully configured backup MC, but I was wondering something.

Is it possible to change the FMCB install folder to include the latest .elf files I prefer to use, as well as the settings files for OPL, SMS, and Ule based on the setup I have on my MC currently?

It is possible for the ELFs, yes.
You can include up to 10ELF into the "INSTALL"-Folder and those will be automatically stored in the BOOT-Folder on the MC you choose to install.
Also you can let the installer copy a FREEMCB.CNF into your SYS-CONF-Folder automatically, if you put a custom Config in the FMCB_CFG-Folder.

If it where me, I would even modify the Nooby-Package to use a custom config and copy all 4 ESR-ELFs to MC.
Then pointing with a custom CNF to ESR DVDV Direct for "ESR-Path" and link the ESR-GUI to the OSD and Button-Launch.

if you want to update to the latest versions of SMS,uLe etc... just overwrite the old versions with the new versions. i regularly update my install folders on my USB stick so when i install for others i use the latest versions.

I'm doing something similar : the ELFs files that are linked to the hacked OSD items are actually stored in the FMCB INSTALL folder, so both my setup and installs are identical at a given time.

Thanks, I updated all my .elf files in my INSTALL directory along with freemcb.cnf in the /install/FMCB_CFG directory.

I suppose for other config files like launchelf.cnf, ipconfig.dat and the OPL settings directory, there isn't much to be done?

Still, I can save those and my codebreaker directory to my MASS device, and just copy them over once i do a fresh FMCB install, if needed.

Thanks for all the help everyone, should save me time when testing things does cause my MC to go kaput.

No, You cannot.

Even if you drop your files to /INSTALL/APPS, FMCB will copy ony a files, not dirs, and only to mc?:/APPS/. You must do this yourself.

If You only want backup a SYS-CONF and you haven't sub folders in it, just mark whole folder in uLE and make *.psu file (or just copy this folder ;]).

This post is just to clarify some of the facts about the uLE FileBrowser commands "Paste" vs "psuPaste":

The normal "Paste" command can handle any folder, even with multiple subfolders, but in copying to non-MC media it is limited to the filename rules of the destination media , so some gamesaves can not be copied this way to a FAT32 drive or to a PC (over network).

But for copying between two MCs this normal "Paste" command is always the best choice. This will preserve any existing subfolder structure, and also retain all filenames and timestamps unaltered.

The "psuPaste" command is ONLY valid for copying between MC and non-MC media (so never between two MCs, or between two non-MC drives). It can backup gamesaves of any kind to any non-MC medium, regardless of filename restrictions, since it reduces a gamesave folder with all content to a single file with a new name, with capability of restoring original names when restoring the backup to MC in future. But since the method and PSU file format used was designed by the company "EMS" for their MC gamesave backup hardware, it allows only for gamesave folders as defined by Sony, which forbids any use of subfolders. So the PSU file format can only handle a single folder level.

Best regards: dlanor
