Ps2 model verification.

Hello All,

I'm new to the forum and am just trying to verify my ps3 model.
I bought it off ebay "60gb" but i cant find any proof on it of it being a 60gb

I searched for a full day yesterday without any results on a tutorial for verifying the model.

I did however verify it has wifi and the card reader so i know its either a 80gb or a 60gb but i cant get more exact then that.

Basically I bought it online and i just want to make sure i got what i paid for.

I've already opened the system to clean the fan and such but nothing inside it tells me what it is (from what i could see)
The HDD has been removed previously (screw has some strippage) so it "could" be a 80gb ps3 with a 60gb hdd in it.

is there any sure fire 100% way to verify the system?

Thanks a bunch!

Only differents between the 80 and 60 gig ps3 is the harddrive
the further hardware is indentical so if the swapped the 80 for a 60 you still received what you bought

also only the 60 and 80 gig ps3 have a cardreader

um i thought the 80 had software backwards compatibility(not 100%) and the 60 was hardware (thus 100% or 99.9%)

everywhere i read says the 60gb > 80gb

so how is a 80gb model with a 60gb hd = to a 60gb ps3

thanks

Go in the system settings and check the HD space. If It says something like 56GB it's a 60 and if it says 74GB it's an 80.

20GB and 60GB ones have hardware EE and GS chips. 80GB one have, I think hardware GS only, lack of hardware EE.

Other than that, the only way to identifying PS3 model is by SKU, http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/22/jo...-the-ps3-skus/ . Hope it helps.
