What modchip do I have?
I bought my second-handed PS2 about a year ago, unfortunately the original owner didn't knew what chip does it have installed..
So now I'm trying to figure out what mod chip do I have, without disassembling my PS2..
When I launch my PS2, I have the regular "Sony Entrainment" screen, and then the game (or Sony's menu page) is launched.
I don't receive any kind of logo or info page about the chip..
I don't know how to launch the chip's settings page, if there is one like this.
My PS2 is a slim model, SCPH-75004, v14.
I'll appreciate any help,
If someone knows a mod chip that can fit to this description (it doesn't leave any marks on the PS2 that it exists ), and that is compatible with my PS2 model, or if you need more info, please tell me, I'll appreciate any help.

Yes, of course.
I hope that someone can tell me what modchip could it be using the info I gave, since most of the modchips have a certain logo that shows up when starting the PS2..
If I'll just open the case of the PS2, (like in this video: ) will it be enough, or do I need to open the PS2 entirely?
Thanks a lot for the help.

Well, after a lot of trouble,
I managed to open it, thanks a lot for that document!
Here is a pic (it's a big one):

Well, now I know that my chip is "Messiah 8.2",
But I can't find any info about it using Google,
but it looks like it's not being sold anymore, and from what I could find,
it doesn't have such a version (8.2) at all.
Does anyone have info about this chip? What does it support, it's options etc? Thanks a lot again.

Messiah 8.2 ... I remember that one kinda, I remember seeing it on really shady modchip sites. Its one of the many clones of the matrix infinity I believe. Try using the Matrix Infinty usage buttons and features, see if any work. http://www.infinitymod.com/cgi-bin/m..._instructionhb

Thanks for trying to help, but unfortunetly they don't work at all..
I tried to disable it, using this:
Quote:
Press start from Joypad 1 until the writing "DISABLED" will appear on screen.
Press once reset button.
The Ps2 will reset and the Infinity is now disabled until PS2 turned off to Standby Position.
|
And the writing didn't appear.. What I really would like to know about this chip, is if it supports DVD9 games, and if I need to patch them (using Toxic patcher) to play them..
Thanks again for all the help!

just use IMGBURN to burn the DVD9 games and if your modchip support DVD9 games which i think it does ..then you dont need to use Toxic Patcher

Well, I want to waste as less as possible DVD9s, since they are very hard-to-get (and expensive) in my area.
I tried to burn GoWII on a DVD9, after I patched it with the Toxic Pacther,
and it worked until I got to the bridge (where the second layer starts)..
It didn't stopped working, but it started to work very slowly, including both music and video, and after the cutscene that occurs there, I simply can't get past the minigame, since it displays the buttons that I need to push very slowly.. So basically I have no idea what is the source of the problem.
I'm not sure that the modchip supports DVD9s at all..
The DVD that is I used is a Verbatim DVD, btw, so it's high quality.
I don't remember exactly what burning program did I use, but I think it was either DVD Decrypter, or IMGBurn..
Any advice?

Use Nero CD/DVD-Speed, to check your C1&C2-Error-rate(io).
Post your results here and if it is not the burning-quality, it is (most probably) your laser which is going to die.
