Modchip issue with FMCB: FMCB does not boot
Installed FMCB ver 1.6 on my ps2 with mars mochip using a CD with ULe. Installation went well and but when I reset my ps2 nothing happened just a blank screen . I remove the MC then reset again the sony browser show up. I had read on some threads that my modchip may interfere with the FMCB ver 1.6 boot up. Want to know how to disable the modchip to run the FMCB without "actually" removing the modchip? Need help from the experts.
My ps2 is SHCP-70004 with Mars Pro7.

for the old ones like that, no.
One way to test is to pop a backup in the drive once you beleive you have it disabled. if it boots, then it's active. if it doesn't, then you're good.
PS, this should almost be in the mod chip section.

I have Modbo 760 on a V12 PS2 and I can disable the chip, but FMCB doesn't work for me either! You could remove the power wire, but be sure you could soldier it back!
BTW, why do you want to install FMCB? Doesn't your chip suport Mode 1 (booting a elf from mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF)?

Thread moved to appropirate forum.
@ solidus - press and hold the start button while booting. it will then say disabled on the screen and then you tap the reset button. The chip will stay disabled until you either shut the system off or place it in standby.
@ vlad123 - I would suggest placing a switch on your chip so that you can 'disconnect' the power at will thus diabling the chip. there's some documention towards the begining of the mod chip forum. just search it out and you'll see some diagrams and methods of doing it.

guys, no luck even with the 'power','reset', and 'gnd' disconnect. Still can't boot the FMCB. I have no choice to remove the modchip.

For those, who can't turn off their chip, they can try the PS1-Boot-Mode.
