I had an infinity v1.4 chip got in chip menu n it died.was wonderin wher u check the chip name coz i opened the game up n it says infinity se 10111 and some other number 4.00 i think...so its some kind of clone ryt?
So i called up my supplier n he says he now has modbo 4. Pliz advise-any disadvantages of it n possibility it could b another clone.he says u can change menu conf 4this one.
the one i had b4 dint say matrix wen startin he says its supposed to say matrix b4 ps2boot screen

All modbo chips are clones, as they don't make their own original designs, though I too have heard that some of these clones are compatible enough to allow reflashing without 'dying'. But only an expert on modchips (which I'm not) will be able to tell which is which.

Yes the Modbo 4 is also a clone of the Matrix Infinity, but from what I've read from others here in the forums (such as this thread), it's a good one.

Modbo 4 i have used their setting is can be changed without any risk ..and it comes with the latest firmware 1.93 ..

I have Modbo 760 fw 1.93 and it works great! And I have changed the setings!

Wat bout software such as sms. Can it get saved on a modbo chip.as in can u use sms without insertin the disk on modbo v4

yes you can boot it from either HDD ( Dev2 ) or MC ( Dev1 )

but the best option for you is to set ulaunchELF as your boot either from Dev2 or Dev1 then throught uLE you can run any elf from MC or HDD or USB ..

and here is the setting for Both Dev1 and Dev2 :

Dev1 :
mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF)


Dev2:
hdd0:/__boot/boot.elf

assume the BOOT.ELF or boot.elf is any elf like uLaunchELF .elf or sms.elf or hdl.elf etc..

Last question. How do i kno which version my playstation is?e.g V1 v2.....and so on

here's the version guide I copied from mod-chip.com before they took theirs down. One thing to mention. it's not going to have the SCPH-7900x or the SCPH-9000x systems on there.
