Project Artemis - PS2 hacking system in development

For some time now, GSHI and select members of the scene have been working, in secret, on something tentatively called Project Artemis: a PS2 hacking system. Details, and the original thread, can be found here: http://gshi.org/vb/showthread.php?t=3153

Apologies to PSX/PS2/PS3-Scene staff if this seems too advertisement...ish. I will, of course, submit to whatever forum rules there are in place, if I've broken any.

Anyway, feel free to drop by

I don't get it, is just a trainer injector or a full blown hacking system like cdxutils but done though LAN or USB either Xlink - Xploder, sharkport - GameShark or x-port - Codejunkies?

Well, for open source, you've definately come to the right place. There's been a boom of PS2 homebrew releases lately, and I'm sure someone here can help out on yours.

Nice idea.

Now, that many new people come (back) to scene, this will help making debugging and a few things a bit easier and faster for them and I think it will help new people also to learn faster and "comin' to the devin' ".

Artemis will be a full-blown hacking system, yes. It will be capable of all forms of RAM-hacking imaginable, as well as disassembly, breakpoints, and even more. It should be quite an impressive feat.

Basically a in-game memory dumper then.

The core of Artemis will be in-game memory dumping, surrounded by a host of functions involving the dumped memory, and the real-time memory (injection/modification/etc). It will also be a full-blown cheat system, to replace all others (it will eventually handle all code types/encryption schemes, though at first we'll simply supply an application that will convert/import all codes for you), and will eventually include several other functions, such as VRAM dumping (screen capture).

It's gong to be an ultimate cheat engine (like codebreaker, but better) and you can easily make cheat codes directly on it if I'm understanding this right.

To put it as simply as possible, it will allow the user to create his or her own codes (cheats, game enhancements, unlocking of debug/secret areas, etc). See the GameShark Pro for the PSX, for a basic example (though, Artemis will be ten times as versatile as the GSPro).

Yes, of course. It will be released for free, as an ELF, though we can make images as well, when the time comes.

Any new news in the development of Artemis? Wasn't Idot working on something sort of like this with Majic Save which seems to have vanished? Maybe he can help add in a part of his source if it actually got off the ground.

I don't know much about what IDOT was working on, besides CodeMajic. He's of course welcome to join the project, but I wouldn't know where to look for him, nor do I know him.

To keep updated on Project Artemis, simply drop by here:
