Emulator questions!

Hi, I have some questions regarding emulators.

I'm looking into making a uLE skin that combines all emulators (Pgen, snes-station, infoGB and FCEU)
and just shortcut it to the ELFs of the emulators.

So far so good, but where should the emulator roms go?
It would be a pain to enter a CD with each emulators individual roms each time, and if I want to switch Emulator I have to switch CD too.

So, my question is: Can all of the above EMulators run ROMS from a USB Pendrive? That way I could just have all the ROMS in the pendrive in different folders, so no need to change disc and such.

OR could i put all ROMS to all emulators on one DVD so when I want to play a little Emulator I just pop in the DVD and every emulator works.

Possible? Or should I go another route?

Any answers is welcomed, and Im from sweden, so if my wnglish isn't perfect excuse me. Also, excuse for the very long post xD.

Please inform us which planet you are from, what does skins have to do with ROMs from different emulators? Will SNES go in the upper left corner while PGEN goes in the lower right and so on?

I don't think so, because in my tests FCEU has been unable to browse dvdv discs (as patched for ESR). Such access fails both with a modchip (which allows other programs to access the contents) and without modchip using ESR (which also allows other programs to access the contents).

I too tried to make an Emu collection disc, but had to give up the idea of making it work with all of them. But perhaps that can change in the future, as ragnarok2040 is still an active member of this site, and still works on FCEU occasionally, though he's also busy with other stuff.

Best regards: dlanor

That's hard to say really, partly as you never said what kind of PS2 you have, so I don't know if you have (or can install) an IDE HDD. For the emulators that support it, an HDD on the IDE interface is the best solution, as it is independent of any external media. But again there is the problem that some of the emus don't support it. And the same problem applies to USB drives.

FCEU supports both HDD and USB, and patched SNES-station versions exist both for HDD and USB, but I don't know about PGen, and I don't think there's any version of InfoGB for USB, though there is one for HDD, modified by Kaylakaze (she made similar modifications to both InfoGB and InfoNES).

In the end I've had to settle for using different media, according to what each emu supports, and I think you may have to do so as well.

Best regards: dlanor

Thank you.
I have slim ps2, so an IDE HDD is kinda out (I've heard you can install one, but it's rather a pain in the ass).

Well, thanks, I'll have to settle for different medias.
