This is the english tutorial. also from ps3forum.nl

Files: http://www.ps3-hacks.nl/index.php?op...d=32&Itemid=56 (if password needed for raar it's PS3-hacks.nl) You'll need an account!

1. Download the Elf Loader

2. Get an USB pen drive (or PSP) and connect it to your PC

3. In the Root make a folder which is called SWAPMAGIC

4. Copy and Paste the file named ''SMBOOT0.ELF'' into the folder SWAPMAGIC

5. Copy and Paste the folder PSXLOADER to the Root of your pen drive (or PSP)

6. Download one or two of the elf emulators

7. Put the elf in the folder PSXLOADER

8. We can’t give you these files: files LIBSD, XMCMAN en XMCSERV. You’ll need to search a bit for them.

9. Put the just downloaded files LIBSD, XMCMAN en XMCSERV in the folder Modules whichs should be inside PSXLOADER

10. Download the Ulaunch Elf

11. Put the folder BEDATA-SYSTEM en SWAPMAGIC in the root of your pen drive.

12 Start your PS3 with the Pen Drive connected and start Swap Magic

13. Press R1 and arrow-up on the d-pad.

14. A menu is presented go to Configuration

15. Go to the folder host and hit the filebrowser

16. Put in an original PS2 DVD an go to the option cdfs. Search for the file usbd.IRX and press R1 the copy it. Go back to the root folder MS0:/ and press R1 make a new directory named: BEDATA-SYSTEM put usbd.irx in there.

17. Quit the game and start Swap Magic again . Now hold L1 and arrow-up

18. In the menu search for the elf you want to start (emulator)

19. Hopefully in will now work!!!

But can 3.3 execute elfs? I guess HDLoader runs fine too, or USBExtreme? But does it see the devices?

Did anyone try USB Extreme with this trick yet? The USB interface on the PS3 is USB 2.x

For the test to be interesting you have to run USB Extreme, as ELF from Swap Magic with USB harddisk connected, to see if it will ask to format the USB disk or not.

Ps2 homebrew on ps3 has been known to work since europe launchment afaik.

Don't bother with hdloader or usbextreme, they won't work yet (i say yet because i hope someone manages to bypass all needed to make it work).

Are you sure USB Extreme will not work with external USB HDD?

Alright, I just successfully installed the PS3 swap switch(many thanks to original tutorial and modder), and i now can try launch all PS2 backups and homebrew on my 60gb PS3 f/w 2.42

These are my homebrew results, all with uLE 4.28 or psxloader:

ule 4.28 - runs fine with usbmass support if u have usbd.irx*

Snes-Station USB ver - plays fine from psxloader with pgen setting

Pgen USB ver - runs with psxloader with pgen setting

infogb(kaylakaze ver) - freezes on splash with psxloader(black screen with ule 4.28)

fceultra ps2(all builds) - works with psxloader(awsome little emu!)

hdloader - runs ELF, says not compatible from either ule of psxloader(think its possible though)

Beats of Rage - Works from psxloader and ULE(4.28)

USBAdvance - boots to splash screen, then freezes

I'm still testing various other ps2 programs this way, but there was one interesting thing I learned that I think is key to hdloader working........I have a old original psm demo disc with levels of socom that installs to the ps2 hdd..........when I put this disc into my ps3, when I press x it asks me to create a partition for the socom levels BEFORE the game even ran! This leads me to believe the ps3 has 2 ps2 modes, one of which enables the hdd for the ps2 side of the system.

*new*

With the new uLE 4.28, the VMC support is compatible with the ps3. Which means you can basically have 2 formats of virtual memory card backups of ps2 files on the USB dirve.

Back to hdloader(PS2 on PS3 hdd):

Basically, after doing some research on ps2 homebrew on ps3, it is known that the ps2 bios on the ps3 is "stripped" of certain drivers/modules. Knowing that, I see how psxloader works, but i was wondering if it was possible to also include the same feature of loading external modules to uLE in the same manner that psxloader does? This way uLE can be the loader for ALL ps2 homebrew on the ps3, also trying to include other modules that may be required for incompatible ps2 homebrew.

I don't really know too much about coding the ELF myself, but I've been on the scene for 4 yrs now and everything I know about ps2 hacking/homebrew, I learned here. On random ps2 games there are all the modules needed to run PS2 compatible software on ps3.

HDD.IRX, ATAD.IRX, DEV9.IRX, FS.IRX, etc....I'm just thinking if these modules could be mounted like LIBSD, XMCMAN and XMCSERV, I think ps2 on ps3 might get a lot more interesting......but if I am wrong, let me know

just my 2 cents
