Help needed with playing my backups!
Hello! I have 4 PS2 games that skip or just freeze during boot or when in game due to scratches. I was able to backup 3 out of the 4 games to my HDD in a image format using dvddecrypter. The games just in case needed are WWE rawVSsmackdown 08, Madden 08, and SpyHunter. My son only plays these games and I read in the forum that I can burn my backups and play them on my PS2 with some software. I admit reading a lot of what is posted and some the tutorials was a bit intimidating.
I have a FAT PS2 which I purchased in 2000. A Sony 8mb MC. And a USB memory stick that I can use to transfer files. Please any help will be appreciated.

Sometimes it will take a while on this site for any help so I will help you out.
The software modification (SoftMod) process involves using a cheat device or memor32 memory card to trick your PS2 into loading a special save file.
First question: Do you have any cheat devices? (Gameshark, Codebreaker, Action Replay, etc)
If not, Buy one. The process is relatively pain free with a cheat device.
Here are some links for when you get one or if you do have one,

Huh? What are you talking about?

Instead of purchasing a cheat device and trying to do this yourself, you could just send your memory card to someone from this fourm and they can mod your memory card for you. Basically they would be installing Free MC Boot (FMCB), which is better then the PS1 exploit. This way you wouldn't need a boot disc to access ps2 software, just the memory card plugged into your PS2 on startup. Then you can start learning about how to use HDLoader (play games off a hard drive in your PS2) or ESR (play backup games on CD/DVDs). If you somehow wanted to go through learning how to mod your memory card yourself, here are the tutorials on how to do that.

I would suggest the game shark. They are still sold at stores today and are like $20.00, depending on where you are, and that is what I used. The cool part is that if you buy it from wal-mart, you can use it for the exploit, and return it, or keep it to cheat with.
PS- I would suggest you do this yourself because the more you learn about the way this stuff works, the more you will be able to troubleshoot future problems.

No. Not correct.
You still could save on it.
@xboxmods2977: Hm,... You edited your post,...

Now for my 2 cents. Easiest way to install it is to use swapmagic. If you have a buddy that has it, borrow it. If they don't have that, see if they have either an Action Replay Max (with the Max Media player), or a codebreaker (8.1 or newer)
if they have none of those, I do have to go along with ps2dragon's suggestion of using the FMCB installer thread to have some one install it for you for the cost of postage.
no need to complicate thing with massive amounts of post saying 'do it this way.... no do it this way....' It can make it horribly confusing for you, and will serve nothing but making you mad.

...was the answer to your further edited post, where you said/asked that you need 2 MCs.
One for the soft-modded mc and one for game-saves, which isn't necessary.

The LOL was for the whole, "Edited your post" thing. I didn't know you could save on the memory card containing FMCB. Must have just been co-incidence that I saved on mine and then FMCB stopped working.

Thanks eveyone
Wow! A lot of help from everyone. It is all appreciated. I will go and purchase a cheat device. And still maybe send my MC to someone for just the postage alone, which sounds like a deal...anyways. BUT I would like to learn more about how to do it myself.
.......MORE info is more than welcomed.......Thanks again everyone!
