PS2 AutoClient

Hi, i have created a little program in Visual Basic which runs in the background (in the system tray) of the computer which you are using as the server for SMS, and only opens the Rad Host client when the ps2 is connected to the network.

I created it because if i just left the Rad Host Client running, when i turned my ps2 off and turned it back on again, the client needed to be restarted before the ps could connect again (unless i used the exit SMS feature), this way the client automatically starts when the ps2 is turned on and connected to the network - very handy seen as though my PS2 is in a different room to my PC and it would be a problem having to go to the other room to restart the client each time i wanted to use SMS over the network - the client is then closed when the ps2 is no longer connected!

If anyone else has the same problem i'd be more than happy to post a link here to download my program.

yes id be intersted to have a look at this aswell andyxxxx,

does it also restart the server if sms has a problem and hangs as at the moment if i play certain avi files that are known to crash sms radhostclient just hangs.

A the moment it only restarts the server when the connection is completely lost, because the network connection is still active whilst it is crashed,

but if it crashes and you restart the ps2 (I dont think there is anything else you can do??), then the client will be restarted, and connection will be restored when SMS loads again.

Sooo, if i understand you correctly and you mean if SMS crashes and you restart the PS2, will it restart the client?... Yes, it will!!!

This must be the quickest re-release ever, but i've amended it slightly.

The 1st version cheked connectivity every 0.1 second, which sometimes caused one cycle to start before the previous one ended and so the client closed, so it now checks every 10 seconds.

also the 1st version closed the client immediately after the connection was thiught to be lost, now if the connection is suspected to be lost, the program waits 10 seconds then checks again before closing it! - helps stop the client closing just when the network is simplly too busy to return the ping from the ps2.

Where can i found v1.7, mine is v1.5.

So for the moment when i start sms with autostart network on, your progy launch RHC ( good ), but after 5 sec it launch an other RHC, and SMS freeze.

does it remember the last setting I put in? the ip address of ps2 and the locaton of radhost.

@Stand at the moment it is just the basic program, but i'll incorperate that feature soon (maybe tonight if i get round to it) because i agree that would be a good idea!

I may also include a drop down list to select the version of Rad Host Client, as it appears some users use v1.5 & maybe v1.6

Yet another release:

this version is bundled with an .INI file so default IP address and file location can be saved and are automatically loaded the next time the program is opened - so you dont have to mess around typing them in each time.

I was just thinking of that! there was a program similar to that released for the gamecube that pretty much did the same thing. Is it possible to make it so that the program starts and runs in the background when windows starts?

About your program I've just tested and looks nice and useful from my side and can say only 4 things, one when using the normal path D:\RadhostClient\Radhostclient.exe got a runtime error because of the long path&filename lenght, easy to fix renaming into RHC.exe...two would be interestin autostart, so configure once use many...also config miniwindow could be launched from stop and three right click menu do not disappear if no option stop/exit is used. And four a third option in that menu could be used in case of need to show main RHC window, for example to see pecentage progress for transfer/playback...
