Compatible With ESR?
Is there a way to get this to work with ESR.

I will test later and post results, but I would think pointing the program to launch a diguised ESR as SLUS_020.03 or something would work, and then ESR would load up the disc. Note: I use WinHEX as my hex editor.

I hope it does, I would really like to be able to use my USB stick as a MC..
At worst I think the source code could be modified slightly, just remove the section of code for booting the game, and have it launch an .elf file instead, that way it(hd_gui.elf) can hack the save functionality, and then ESR/SM can boot the game..
It should work.

Sadly, I have tested many, many times with no avail. HD_Project will either hang or say there isnt a CDVD IOP Image Update in drive... I haven't yet tried USBMCEmu, which is what you would use with HDLoader. I will try and point it to boot ESR.elf, and then after that ESR should play it's cue.

Hey there, I've tested with USBMCemu with the NTSC game Black. I compiled the image just as the tutorial described for use on HDLoader. Then patched it with ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a, burned it with Imgburn at 8x, and then I ran it using ESR beta r9a dvdv direct off.elf since that's simialr to mode 3 on HDLoader. The game loaded, and when I removed my memory card and left my usb stick in, it still detected a memory card in slot 1. I saved a profile and then quit the game. I restarted the game, removed my real memory card and left the usb stick in and the game detected a memory card once again and then loaded my profile. That's the only game I've tested so far. I'm assuming the compatability rate will be similar to what works for HDLoader. I'll try to test some more when I can.

^ Yeah, but I don't have an HD(Slim PS2).
Plus, I really don't want to have to rebuild all my images again, I already did it recently to make them work with ESR, so rebuilding/burning them all once again, doesn't sound too fun..
--
So, could someone with CYGWIN/MinGW installed make those changes I mentioned before, I looked through the source, it looked like it would be simple enough to have it boot an .elf file after injecting the code for the save hack, instead of trying to boot the DVD..
I would do it myself, but I couldn't get the compilers setup properly, CYGWIN wouldn't load the toolchains from SVN, and MinGW wouldn't work properly under XP x64 for some reason, apparently its a known issue, I tried the workaround they listed, but it didn't fix the problem(something about forks, I guess because its using the wrong command.com)..
Anyways, it would be greatly appreciated if someone could do that, and throw it up on Rapidshare as a temp fix until the devs start updating again..

I used to just load the ESR mcard version and that would load up ESR drivers. Then it would load uLE, and allow me to load the HD_project.elf GUI, which in turn would read the CD/DVD in drive, then i would use my 2GB usb drive as a 128mb VMC. Very time-consuming, but if you have access to a fat ps2, it is way simpler. just use WinHIIP to extract and then rebuild, thinking about doing that today (~50 games w/ my HDL, very time-consuming, but after that I wouldn't have to worry about putting my different MC's for different games.

Thats what I get too, I don't know if any games work with that method though, the two programs seem to run simultaneously, so they might be conflicting with each other..
---
I am trying to edit the source, but its been going slow, I finally found a fix for MinGW on XP x64 that works, and got it all setup, but now I am getting compiler errors, for some reason its not picking up the fact that I have the necessary libraries installed(GSKit, DMAKit, CDVD_RPC, etc..), so I am having to move them into the projects source directory for them to be detected properly..
(I set the paths for them, so this shouldn't be necessary.. ?)
If I get that figured out, I just need to edit the code for booting cd's, so it just hacks the save, then boots an .elf, hopefully that will work, since they won't be running at the same time with it set up like that.

im patient. one, you can only ask so much from two completely seperate projects. cant expect them to play nice upon first meeting. two, my coding skill are severely lack luster and i appreciate all the work of those who have made all the PS2 projects possible.

Edit:
Well, I got my dev environment all setup now, and have been trying to find a work around, no luck yet, but I have only been working on it for a few hours today, and a little bit yesterday
I do have an idea of what needs to be done, but it looks like its going to take more work than I had hoped, I tried a quick hack fix, but its not looking like thats going to be enough.
If I do figure something out, I will post my findings..
