Interesting laser drive problem

I am completely stumped and I'm not sure what to do with this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just installed a MI greendot on a Version 9 USA console. I have double checked all points and successfully completed the romeo mod.

When I power on the console the laser moves all the way to the spindle (center of drive) and then makes a clicking sound for a few seconds. The worm motor keeps spinning for a few seconds even though the laser has hit the spindle. I have checked and the laser assembly is hitting the little button to tell it to stop..yet the worm motor spins for a few seconds regardless.

It will not load games just by opening and putting the game in. I have to open the dvd drive top and slide the laser assembly away from the spindle and then put the disc in to make it work. The modchip is working fine and loads cds/dvds/movies (backups and originals).

Is there some point that could cause this or is it something to do with the laser assembly?

If you put the chip just on top of the ic that are nearby the hard-disc connector you could get these problem.If not try to unsolder the chip and see if that fix the problem.If it does put the chip in another position and re-solder al points.Remember the shorter the cables are the better

I checked all solder points and shortened the B G H I wires quite a bit as well. What do you mean "on top of the IC that are near the hdd"? I have mine installed where most people have it (Right beside the reset point).

On one diagram I saw that it said "H is only used for JAP console" but on the matrix site it says to use the H point for USA as well. I have H connected right now, should I try it without H?

I have never heard of this problem I have and I am having trouble finding any info on it.

Any help is greatly appreciated because I can't understand what's wrong.
