Problem with wireless controller

Hi everybody,

i bought a madcatz wireless controller.
I plugged it to my ps2 (modded with matrix infinity fw 1.54),
and nothing happened.
I did not get a connection.
So I tried the controller on another, unmodded ps2, and the result was, it was working.

To be sure, I tested it with anotherone, a psTwo, modded with the crystal chip, and it also worked.

So, I think, it is the matrix infinity that blocks the controller.

Does anyone have the same problem, or is this problem known at the infinity team?

did you try to turn the infinity off
if the controller works then it could be a problem with the infinity fimware

grtz

No I dont think thats the issue. The infinity has a delay on boot up that looks for a standard PS2 controller. The reason it does this is because as you know you can enter different modes by holding different buttons on the controller. It gives you this delay so you have time to press the desired button to enter the mode you chose. If a controller is not detected in this time the screen will stay black for up to 10 seconds until one is. After the 10 seconds it will boot to the default mode. Your wireless controller is most likely not being detected. You might try waiting the 10 seconds for the PS2 to boot with your wireless controller. With the current firmware there is a setting to change the delay from 10 down to 1.

I tried both, switching off and setting the controller detection time.
Nothing worked.

Anyway, thank you.

Ok one last idea. When you use your standard PS2 controller does it have vibration? If not you have a blown fuse and this same fuse is what the wireless controllers use to power them selves.

Thanks

Yes the fuse can de replaced. However ints not a simple as just pulling the fuse out and putting in a new one. The fuse is soldered to the motherboard and the fuses are of the surface mount type, not the glass type. I have made this repair many times. Its not too difficult if you have the right equipment, parts and of course patients.
