Boot Problems

Hi everyone,

i modded a friends v9 with a matrix infinity chip. The ps2 always starts up, but sometimes it has no sound and tries to boot with the "matrix" logo showing instead of the stanard "playstation2" screen. In addition, when it successfully boots, the sound usually fizzles out and the ps2 freezes anywhere from 5-15 min after it first starts a game. I've checked for bridges and for splashes, and i'm honestly stumped. any ideas where i should look?

The sound problem is probably related to the BIOS legs
I would check with a multimeter and check that there are no continuity values of 0 between each leg, normally you will get a reading of between 0.5 and 0.7 these are normal

The matrix infinity has 2 different boot logos, when you insert a CD game you get 'Matrix' come up but on DVDs you get Playstation2 witha little infinity vx.x
This is normal

regards,
Danny

You should try to redo the mod. Maybe it's a cold solder point.

I would double check all your wires, if you still cant get it to work
Take the mod out and start over!!

You want to get the console back to the position when you started in and then remod with new wires and make them as short as you can, especially the BIOS and GND wires

regards,
Danny

Thanks for the help guys.

Turns out that the pins underneath wire M were bridged. Removed it with some desoldering braid and its all set.

Thanks again.
