so are these orange dot chips flashable?

Usually, its the clones that have limited functionality. (ie not flashable, among other things). Besides, these new orangedots should be like an upgraded version of the bluedots, but instead of calling them bluedot v2 or something like that, they simply opted for a change of name.
IMO, the reason behind their changing the name is to clean-the-slate sorta speak, to get people to move on from their "slightly" distorted image due to their famous (or "in"famous

,depending on who you ask) patching method they employed on their previous chip which increases the likelihood of an irritating(and downright dangerous) mechacon lockup by quite a bit. I know there are fixes to handle that, but still..... its just annoying to have your ps2 shutdown on you in the middle of a serious gaming session every few minutes. (well maybe not that often

). So, if I were them, I would try to do something to clear that up (maybe by changing the name ?? ) .................then again, I've been out of the picture for a while. Maybe the above info is ancient history by now
