Problem with Thai PS2 and Matrix Infinity

hi@all....

i have here a very unusual ps2.... it was bought in Thailand...

is a Japanese Model GH-022... BUT 220V and 50Hz... never seen this before....
I fitted a MI but the chip is not working.... connetions are OK (I know what I am doing)... but it seems to me, the bios cannot be patched. As if the chip is not there...

Chip is OK.. rechecked it with a another one!

maybe somebody else had a similar problem one time????

thx

I'm guessing that the model is SCPH-39006 NTSC/J aka v7. I've install MI on NTSC/J v9 with no problem only have to force flash the firmware to 1.5 as I got the bad batch using Homebrew firmware and you must connect the H point.

Have you tried forcing upgrade to Infinity firmware, might be you also got the Homebrew chip instead of Infinity like I did before. Here is how to do it quoted from MI website.

Quote:
Put Upgrade CD into PS2 and put PS2 into standby.
Press "reset button" and keep pressed until blue light turn ON (on V1-V11).
(For the V12 press reset button from standby for 2-3 seconds as there is no blue light).
Leave "reset button" and Upgrade CD will boot.
Follow on-screen instructions to complete the Upgrade procedures.

there actually are all sorts of different "breeds" of ps2 consoles for parts of asia including PAL/J consoles. The asian consoles still use the J designation for their consoles instead of using a seperate designation such as A or something. These consoles are quite the mutants however i havnt heard of any modern modchip not working on them.
