Matrix Infinity OR Duo 2 SE
I wanted to ask everyone what is better, Matrix Infinity or the Duo 2 SE. All of the solder points are the same, so that I dont have to worry about. Everyone is probably familiar with my current problem with the MI, so I was thinking why not just swap it out, but I would like to know the ups and downs of both before I swap. I already have the MI installed right now, Any help is appreciated!

Well, personally I prefer the Duo 2 SE because I believe that a ps2 is for gaming, nothing else, i am not interested in all this other fancy stuff, I have installed a couple MI chips and installed lots and lots of Duo 2 SE chips, I love the Duo 2 SE, never had any hassles with it.

Plays everything on the fly.. no menu's or any of that crap? ie, all types of media.. cd-r, cd-rw, dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd+rw, dvd-rw
also no force booting?

yep, basically stick it in and it will play it, although not too sure about the rw discs, I am not a fan of those and discourage people from using them.

I'd go for the INFINITY by choice, but the DUO 2 SE is a very good chip and its half the price of the INFINITY.

The Matrix Infinity enhance your ps2 with a lot of features with helps you play a wider amount of games such as pal games if you have an ntsc console and vice versa.

No. The Duo 2 SE doesn't even support backup dvd9 games. It's a VERY basic chip.

Okay, who would have guessed... another problem, now when I turn the PS2 on, it goes into "New purchase mode" everytime. I get the screen everyone gets when they first turn on the PS2 after buying... EVERY TIME!!! I can't play any games, but I can select what timezone I live in. does anyone know what the problem might be???

MI is good, y pay like 20 less then ? with MI u can do all kind s of cool stuff :P
u wont feel bad when u got it But i must say, if u install it yourself, dont come crying if it doesnt work well, modding PS2 is pretty hard, i installed my own chip, and maybe am lucky maybe am just good lol, but it worked great from then. and i just love the MC manager, soon there will be a HDD manager and ofcoz the DNA bypass. ( wich i dont think is ok, but the technique of making it work is very nice work))

one of your dvd controller wires is pinched (grounded out). Check your install
