Matrix Infinity on V12
I installed a Matrix Infinity on my PStwo tonight, and everything works fine. Original games work great, and I even get the nifty infinity symbol underneath the Playstation 2 when the game boots. But when I put in a backup, I cant seem to get it started. It asks for an original PS2 or PS disc. I figured if my chip works great, there must not be anything wrong with the install. Or am I wrong?

Did you flash it? The blue dot Matrix Infinity does not support backups with original firmware.

Woops, forgot to thank you. Thanks
And I could grab the software from the infinity website? Or is it more of an underground thing?

Okay, I updated the firmware to 1.39, and I still cant seem to boot any back ups. Could this be a wiring issue of any sort?

Try checking the DVD controller wires. Are you burning them properly at a low speed and using good media. Try that and see if it helps.

Hmmm, do you mean the DVD drive cables? I'll get on that
Acutally, the backups work great on my brother's playstation. They're Ritecks or something.

The wires on the motherboard. The vias you soldered. Try checking those.

Okay I searched through the forums more, and I was told to check the A - I wires. So I will do that and post back.

You have a faulty chip.
Lately there is lots of faulty infinities that can not generate a strong enough current for the B-I wires, even if you soldered them correctly.
I personally have to exchange 10 out of 100 chips from the latest batch i got.
So try getting another one and another one (always good to have at least 3 in stock) to switch around and check the install/chip.

Uhh ohh. I'm in Canada, and I ordered the chip from the US, so I dont expect to get another one for a few days or a week at most :P
What's the possibility that it is a faulty chip?

I agree... prolly the chip. I've had to swap a couple myself... just the chip... and from there it worked fine. Same RSOD. A - I soldered fine. Quite annoying.
I have another question though. Was the chip NEW? I ask, because an unflashed chip does not give the Infinity logo under the Playstation logo like you describe. It must be flashed before that can happen. I think you may have received someone else's headache.

I did buy it new, and it looks pretty new. It was unsoldered, and unscathed. and yes it did boot up with the Infinity 1.38 thingy underneath Playstation when it was loading an original.
I guess its the chip then Gotta wait a few days before I can get it running.
Thanks everyone for your responses.

Dude your chip will not work on v9>v12 models .
I have some 10+ "bad" Matrix chips , so I use them for older versions .
if you will get other chip possible same shit will happen or maybe not .
like I see problem is in ACTEL Chip , chip is not so fast for v9-v12 models. ( problem in chip core or something ) so reflashing will not help.
P.S. same problem was on blank 12c508a chips they works good in old PSX models and not works on new PSone after flashing , this was hardware chip problem.

the psone chips had the 3.8MHz frequency calibrated crystal instead of 4MHz as supposed to.
The actel chips do not output 24mA on those pins as supposed to, but less.
The mechacon on older model prolly has less strong outputs that can be patched even by the defective actel chips

There have been a lot of success with the Infinity chips on V12's though. Along with summ0ne's fix, it works great for many people. I'll try to do a exchange first, and then if there are still problems I'll change to a Magic or something.

Could a faulty chip prevent the disc motor from spinnig up? I have ordered some more mi chips just to try. I hope this solves my problem. Let you all know, once the new chips arrive.
