DMS3 Explorer v1.0 has been released
DMS3 Explorer v1.0 has been released. They will be releasing an install image for Naplink in the next few days.
They are also announcing that they will be sponsoring Sjeep, the creator of PGEN and PSMS. Sjeep has been a great help to the PS2 homebrew community with his contributions to ps2lib and modules. He also produces two nice emulators for Genesis/Megadrive and Master System. They also have a new release of PGEN and SMS with Dev.olution Mode support, in the next few days.

never mind I found this on the DMS3 site:
DMS Explorer Instructions
Burn the DMS Explorer 1.0 installation image to a CDR. Boot the disc as you would any PS2 CDR. DMS3 Explorer will start up and automatically install itself on the memory card. When complete, you will see a menu with one entry, "Browser". At that point you may execute DMS3 Explorer from Dev.olution Mode.
Basic Usage:
Upon startup, DMS3 Explorer will load the list of installed applications and display them on the screen for you to choose from. Use the Up/Down arrows to highlight the application you want to run and X to select it.
Pressing Select when a valid installation disc is inserted into the PS2 drive will invoke the automatic installer which will install an application according to the supplied install script.

what im saying is you'll probably still need to waste a cd, so whats the difference.

Since you would not need to boot applications everytime from cd you can use a cdrw instead to install the app. Then just boot the app from mem card and use the cdrw for something else.

OK so I have the DMS explorer running on my PS2....now what? How on earth do you get DivX players and other APPS to run from the browser off the mem card?

Hm, I've installed it, I can now enter the Explorer by pressing the triangle button. But upon entering the "Browser", the PS2 is plainly rebooted. Shouldn't the browser at least display "no files" or something? Maybe there was not enough space on my memory card?

Won't work. The DiVX player will have to initialize differently (see bottom of the referred page). The presented installation script will only work with apps which don't load additional drivers (ps2reality mediaplayer does load cdvd.irx, iirc)

I think it would be neat to upload programs to the memory card over USB/Firewire/Network Adapter similar to Naplink.
