SMS 2.8 Revision 2

Yeah, news has been kind of slow on the Sony side lately. But fortunately, EEUG continues his work on SMS!

I don't know if it's my card reader or not, but the new USB driver seems to not be able to read past a certain point on the card (around 500 megs). It will list files that are in the unreadable section, but won't play them, and will eof a video that crosses into this section. The old driver doesn't have this problem.

I gave up programming it 'cause it was just to finicky. My PS2 with SMS is still my #1 way of watching video though. I usually network stream but I'm stuck in a hotel for 2 weeks so I've had to use USB.

keep in mind the USB is not mounted by default and has to be turned on in the options menu and the PS2 will not read NTFS partitions, It needs to be FAT.

if you plan on useing USB exclusively I would recamend truning off HDD autostart and everything else and just leaveing USB autostart.

Doing this will reduce load times and also will cause it to start up right on the USB device so you do not have to go through the trouble of switching from displaying the contents on your HDD to the USB device.
Switching devices can be a little hard at first for some people so this seems like a good idea.

press start to open the menu go into device settings (or something like that...) and check autostart USB. Then go down to Start USB and USB will start up.

At this point you want to save your settings you will find that option some place in the menu.

btw go into the free vast section and download FMCB so you don't have to screw around with a swap disk. or any disk as all for that matter. Swaping is so out of date for homebrew these days.

hello again, i wanna know if i'm able to play .mp4 files, I've tried already with the sms but it just keeps on loading it and that's it, so probably it wont play it but is it possible? (if i'm asking too much or bothering u can tell me, just thought that as mp4 is getting really popular for the quality and file size, it was worth the tr on asking, for i already tried it on the sms but not success )
