Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria
the way of "swap controller" TRUELY WORKS on NA version too.
It's come from 2CH, and a lot of Japanese and Chinese players had test it all ready.
Here are the steps:
1, plug your old PS1 controller into your PS2
2, turn on your PS2 with HDL, select game VP2
3, when game had been loaded, you will be asked to plug a DUAL SHOCK 2 controller (normal PS2 controller)
4, unplug your PS1 controller, and plug your PS2 DUAL SHOCK 2 controller.
5, play it and you can find out that you will never get freezed when get into battle.
thx to zxh @ ps2hd for the steps.

Yeah they don't sell them in stores anymore. Best bet would be a pawn shop, flea market etc.

From what I heard from the JPN version, it doesn't need to be a pad. It could be a flight stick, fighting stick, or wheel.
I wonder who came up with this (Japanese or Chinese) fix? "Oops! It doesn't work. Maybe I should try it with a non-Analog digital pad...Alright! I knew that would work." LOL

So you're saying that Silmeria(USA) sometimes freezes during battle?

What about removing the controller right after pressing (X) for launching the game from HDLoader? Will it have the same effect?

I've read in another forum (ps2hd forum) that this won't work, you need to put a non analog controller before turning on your PS2. On the same forum someone said that with toxicos you don't need the joypad trick. Maybe someone here can confirm both claims... (=
