Works for me
I just beat the game withToxic os 0.43 using the pad trick.
It goes like this :
1.Power up your ps2 and select valkyrie Profile2 from the list.
2.Quickly unplug your ps2 controller(the ps2 should have no controller pluged).
3.Wait until the game tells you to plug a ps2 controller.
4.Dont forget the above and dont try to cheat and you'll be fine.

Alright question number one? Is there ToxicOS .43? I never knew they updated from 0.41 (which is what I am using).
Secondly (it's not a question), you don't need to do the pad trick for ToxicOS. IT doesn't freeze w/o the trick on OS only on HDL.

try using better quality media and will show the message less often
and yes normally we can use the Codebreaker codes without having any problems
but better disable them when they are not needed

ToxicOS 0.41 is the latest, released on 1/07/06 by Team Toxic.
I think it was just a typo or he didnt know the version number.

I have a weird problem. When I start VP2 from HD with pad swap trick, intro movie plays fine. Also the title screen appears.
When I select "options" in title screen, picture goes black and stays black. Nothing else to do but reboot.
When I select "new game" in title screen, the following movie plays. Then again black screen. Only reboot possible.
I use newest HDL 08b fully patched with a DMS3.
What could be the cause for this problem?

Hi, thanks for the Answer.
What do you mean by "replaced"? Did you just remove it from the iso file or did you patch it in any way?

Okay, just to summarize "everything". When I want to play VP2 from HDD:
1. I do need a non-dual shock PS1 controller (for swap trick)
2. mdma must be enabled with hdl
Is this correct?
Just wondering because I have played VP2 until the beginning of Chapter 2 from DVD(-R) on the modded PS2 (DMS3) of a friend and I haven't encountered any freezing or other problems so far.

Using the sony remote on my v12 instead of a ps1 pad worked for me. Just gatta remember to unplug the ps2 pad first.

For all those havign problems with this game.
1) Try playing from disc, from a virgin save. if it crashes, the issue is with your modchip. DIsable the modchip, and start again.
2) DOn't cheat. If the game catches a cheat attempt, it sets a flag in the save file that will cause the game to crash from that point on, and you will HAVE to start all over.
3) NEVER boot from HD without the trick. If you save after booting without the trick, the "cheater/pirate" flag gets saved in every save file for the game on the memory card, and you are doomed to crash HELL!
4) backup your saves to other memory cards on a regular basis, just in case.

got to chapter 4 so far, no freezing, no problem.
my ps2's v7, and the latest version of hdloader.
used ps2 dvd remote as a pad trick.
the animation motion the main character walks/runs (in the 2d environment) is the best walking/running animation i've ever seen in a video game.

Oh wow are you serious? If so my sister's save is screwed lol. Apparently the game crashes randomly during a battle near the end of the game. Using HDLoader 0.8c. Used a PS2 DVD Remote for the swap trick.
Hmm, I guess I will have to download a new save off of teh internetz.
