help with uploading files to the harddrive

I was wondering how am i able to upload .avi's to the hard drive to watch with simple media system. I managed to connect via exceptftps. However whenever I try to transfer files it freezes/timeouts something like that. Is there any way to transfer via dvd to h/d or plugging in the hard drive to my pc and loading it with a program. Im using fmcb1.7 with hdloader 0.8c 320 gb seagate drive. If anybody could help me here that would be greatly appreciated!

well you should use Host which is faster than FTP and here is the steps :
