My HDD is SLOW, is there any way to "defragment" or speed up a large unofficial HDD?

I have a 500B HDD, and its starting to become full.......... and SLOW for HDLoader.

Deleting and renaming takes forever, and while I am sure the large amount of games on it right now contributes to this, constantly deleting and installing others probably has taken a toll as well.

Is there any way I can sorta defragment the entire drive? From what I understand, each game is installed as a seperate partition, so defragmentation in the normal sense of the world woulden't work since its by partition, is there any way to clean up or defragment the entire drive? Or reorganize/move the locations of the partitions?

Or any other way to make it faster?

For anybody with a 500gb or larger HDD, does this happen to you too? To be honest, I was wondering upgrading to 750 or possibly even a 1TB drive, but it this just makes things slower and slower I am not sure I can stand it, or if itll even work with a HDD that large thats nearly full, I haven't even started getting into emulation on my PS2 yet, which will demand a lot of space.

Winhiip has some kind of function for that, but the only real way is formating and reinstalling the games.

I have a 500gb hdd from seagate, 16mb cache. Worthless!
HD Loader do some kind of check everytime you install or delete a new game. That's how it works. It works at the normal speed in the subsequent runs.
So, when you install a game, the first time you run hdloader, you better sit back and relax. After that, everything will run smoothly at the same speed as any other hd.
Also it's something to do with the number of games you have installed. The more you have, more time you'll have to wait. Simple as that.
