HDLoader and ESR
Hi there!
I'm new here and got a little question:
I've installed FreeMCBoot on my MC so I can play ESR patched games on a Slim PS2 of my friend.
Now I've installed a HDD in my old fat PS2 because the drive doesn't read the discs from time to time.
My question now is: is it possible to install the ESR patched backups via hdloader to the HDD or do I have to make an image from the disc and transfer it via pc to the HDD?
thanks for help

Start "ule" --> Insert your disc here, or start PS2 with disc already inserted --> Start ESR - MC-Version. --> ule restarts (if it is in the right folder) --> start hdl --> Press install.
Your ESR-Game should install to HD.
But you must restart your PS2, without ESR, to play games through HDLoader.
If HDL is "ESR-Active", it will hang in a black screen, if you try to start a game.

Hi TnA, what do you mean?
I just can't load DBZ infinite world via ESR+HDLOADER. I used the latest version of both programs.
This is what I did:
1- ESR-patched the ISO of DBZ infinite world (using latest patcher)
2- Transfered the patched ISO from my laptop to my HD PS2 via "HDL_dump"
3- ran ESR via ULE (ESR colors flash on screen then back to ULE)
4- ran HDLOADER (ESR colors flash again on screen then HDLOADER loads up)
5- load the DBZ infinite world game
6- <<<screen just turns black and PS2 hangs>>>
What do I need to do to make this work. Appreciate your advise guys!
Please help.. I beg..

And no patch exists for it.

What I mean is that, instead of playing games via backup DVD games on the PS2 using ESR. You load the games via HDLOADER. The ISO games in the HDLOADER is ESR patched..
Sorry, I thought it is possible... because DBZ infinite world can't run on HDLOADER but workd perfect with ESR.
I have no DVD burner to backup the game and use ESR alone, that's is why i was asking if this is possible.

first up. I deleted your double post. Please do not post in such a manner again.
second. what you talk about is impossible. HDL ignores it. if you are able to get the system to recognize the esr disc, via the memorycard version of esr, when installing, it, HDL ignores the esr patch. it's been tried and it fails.
It's been asked about on numorus other games. they've been answered the same way. but how you presented the question is why you recieved the answer in such a way that you did.
Side note that's unrelated in most ways. - It must be a full moon or something out. I'm getting all the 'special' questions this evening.

TnA, Bootlegninja,
apologies.. now I understand.. can't run HDLOADER while ESR is active.. this explains the black screen.. therefore I can only play DBZ infinite world via ESR and a burned image of an ESR-patched ISO..
Damn, it's probably the hangover..
desperately need an HDLOADER patch for DBZIW..

HDL doesn´t need an ESR-Patched ISO.
Even if, it will ignore it like Bootleg said.
An ESR-Active HDL is only for installing ESR-Backup-Discs through HDL directly to HD.
Games won´t start and hang in BSOD like you said, if ESR is active.

I beleave thats what Flad ment TnA..
I take it he thought that if he could put a ESR patched game on a HDD and load it throu HDL that it would in turn make incommatible games for HDL work..
I thought this at first as well when the MC version of ESR was released..
I put in Hot Shots Golf 4 and made an ISO..
Then had it patched it so it would work with ESR..
Sents my laser on my PS2 was about dead I thought.. "Hey I have a MC version of ESR"..The game should work when booted from HDL sents its patched with ESR and it would work..
BOY WAS I WRONG..
Ya installing games that where patched with ESR will not work throu HDL.. No matter what you would do..
Only way to make an ESR patched game work is for someone to some how make a patch with in HDL it self for games like that to work with ESR..
Hasent been done.. Doupt it will ever be done..
Just my $0.02..
Later,
Scooter

Yepp, I understand it also this way.

Due, to how the patch works, it is clear why it will not give extra-compatibility, but you need to know it before.
Anyway,... Since you´ve tested it, you know...

Are you sure?
Thought, it is quite easy, to start HDL with ESR-MC-Version and than install the ESR-Patched disc from there.
ESR-Active-HDL --> Game should install, but none starts if ESR is active.

The first sentence is hard to understand.
Yepp, a patch for the games that don´t work, need a patch for HDL, but it still has nothing to do with ESR.
