hdl_patch 08b GUI patcher...

i've decided to post the english translation template here so anyone who wants to add a language doesn't have to fish for it in this thread. only use this template.

Update v0.8b R2j:
added Italian translation and Spanish translation fix thanks to dino05

Update v0.8b R2i:
added Catalan translation and Spanish translation fix thanks to suloku

Update v0.8b R2h:
added Spanish translation option to gui thanks to suloku

Update v0.8b R2g:

updated new God of War 2 patch by CrazyC (fileops2 patch)

Update v0.8b R2f:

added God of War 2 patch by CrazyC

Update 0.8b R2e:

added updated Japanese translation by Monarworld.
added complete Danish translation by MoTTaFuKKa.

Update 0.8b R2d:

added complete Japanese translation. thanks to haro for the tipoff

Update 0.8b R2c:

added partial Japanese translation thanks to athlonxp9800

fixed one more French translation and also the dual-error display issues

Update 0.8b R2b:

completed the rest (i think) of the French translations thanks to Kyrax and slicer74

globalized texts for easier translation updates if anyone decides to do any other language.

other minor tweaks to code

Update 0.8b R2a:

added Danish translation for the gui thanks to MoTTaFuKKa.
completed some of the other French translations done by Kyrax.

yes, all the message texts are still in English. as soon as i get together a managable text list of these, i'll post a list if you guys want to translate them.

Update 0.8b R2:

added French/English translation for the gui thanks to Kyrax. (mostly complete)

Update 0.8b:

rebuilt using code of v0.8b. (read official text files for changes)
(thanks Zer0-X / CrazyC)

added a slider for the DMA Selector Delay Speed setting. (it's set to 2 as default)

Update 0.8a R2:

fixed some minor gui oversight (app name version)

added ability to custom select your own dma.ini file.
(note: this can be any .ini file. so you could have 'mydma.ini' or whatever. if no custom file is found then it will search for 'dma.ini' in the patcher's directory. if you're happy with the defaults, just tick the item and forget about selecting a file or anything else. this was only added for people who want more flexibility and like to tinker.)

v0.8a:
what can i say except thanks a million to Zer0-X, CrazyC, and all the others who have done the hard work of not only finding and coding these patches, but also for sharing these findings with the ps2 community!

took out a few custom crazyc patches since they're incorporated into the main 0.8a patch.

left in (just in case someone still wants to use them) some old (U/M)DMA patching options as well as the ToxicOS v0.2 Core patch

i thought i had mentioned this, but apparently i hadn't. i wanna give props to <G> for the idea of including a patcher for an original unpacked, retail, HDL ELF.

THE "APPLY PATCHES TO ORIGINAL HDL" OPTION WILL ONLY WORK ON THE ORIGINAL RETAIL HDL v1.0 DUMP THAT'S FLOATING AROUND.

DO NOT TRY TO USE IT WITH HDAVANCE OR ANY OTHER RETAIL HACKS OF THE ORIGINAL BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT WORK!

THIS WILL NOT WORK ON THE SLUS FILE FOUND ON YOUR ORIGINAL DISC!

enjoy

Just took a quick glance at it. So far, I'm impressed. If this thing works as it should - and I'm in no serious doubt about that - it would make HDL patching so much more easy and convenient for a lot of people.

The GUI itself looks very comfortable. Awesome job.

thank you very much,
i'm going to use this one for sure.

if i may request 2 things:
1) can you include also the "child safe patches"?
2) i am missing the option to set screen position, is this not possible anymore?

1) i've only heard in passing of the child safe patches. but it wouldn't be a problem to implement other patches as long as i had the patch info.

2) screen position is there (lower right)

I am out of town right now can not access my resources on this, so i can not post the exact changes i made. I'll be back in about a month.

hum well in that case. ChildSafe has the following modified offsets:

(Note: prevents pressing Right to access Toolbar menu)
offset 4A2C: 0020
-> 0080

(Note: prevents pressing Select to access Config Options menu)
offset 4A7C: 0001 0232 6600
-> 0000 0000 5500

Please thank gvn and not me.

Also would it be to difficult to add a small image preview for the slash and menu? Like the hdl_aio.

I still should get my ass up and atleast fix some minor errors in the source to handle the switches more properly, and the checking of the loaded images is also somewhat buggy sometimes just discarding certain illegal images without giving any notification about it.

I just hate reading my sources after a while because it takes some time to understand what I've done previously.

Great thanx m8 !

i try to use this app and when i go to select a image to splash the hdloader screen the app disapears before i can chose the image? my hdloader elf is a dvd made version since my ps2 cannot read cd anymore. i ahve been forced to do that. could that be the reason?

i tell you, it was a bit tough to 'translate' it into a more manageble piece of work . but i did and made a bunch of smaller and more manageable functions. i don't know if it'll help you or not, but i'll up my modified version of your code. just keep in mind that this was written to be compatible for borland builder which is all about gui. there's no more command line stuff as you will see. but at least the functions being split up may help... or maybe not

the code in this form is not compilable. but i'm sure you could make some minor tweaks to get it the way you need it.

here you go...

@moderators could we sticky this thread?

@zap thank you thank you!!! I see you have already added the child safe patching and I see you attempted a image preview from the "action" in the tool bar but it didnt work for me. I dont want to make what you have done already seam like its not enough .... but would it be possible to add a packer to this Then it would be complete! Well for me anyway.

i maybe would do a frontend type of thing for packing. that'd be a lot easier than to try and merge the two things in one.

as far as the preview goes. it's a simple previewer that will only accept bmp files as the source. i don't know exactly what errors you're getting so i can't try to fix them. you have to check and selected bitmaps for the splash and main images in order for the preview window to even be allowed to open.

let me know specifically what is happening.

Yes I have the BMP's selected for splash and main and both are checked. When I try and preview I get an error box that pops up and says "Stream read error."

A front ended packer would be better then nothing

Why would you pack HDLoader?
It's faster to just put it in ___boot partition and launch it from there, uLaunch BOOTc.ELF is already compressed.

simple CC with BM ...... also when people send in thier console and memory card I dont have to deal with a heavy ass HDD to ship back or worry about damage. Its not a big deal I can pack it on my own ... just thought it would be nice to have it as another option for this wonderful app.
