Old PS2 FatBoy Help

Hey im new to this site and im trying to figure out whats wrong. The probablem thats happening is that it gives me read disc errors and it just stopped working all together. any help here? do i need to replace the the dvd drive all together? or do i have to do something else? thanks its much appreciated . going nuts all i want to do is play my GTA San Adreas and others.

sounds like your laser is dead. you might be able to find a new 3rd party one on the net. last I saw, divineo.cn had some in stock for a 'decent' price. worth a look.
