Depends upon some PS2, but if you use DVD+R make sure to set your BOOKTYPE to DVD-ROM.
Also I think you should use better quality media than memorex.

That is strange. I don't know why you would get a disk read error, unless your laser needs cleaning or adjustment.
What version PS2 do you have?
Your PS2 perhaps likes DVD+R better.
I was not saying you couldn't use DVD+R, just that you should have gotten better quality than memorex.

Your burner might not like that media. I know I have to avoid Sony DVD-Rs because of that.

It also might be the case, that he only has a "4x-DVD-Writer".
If it is, that might causes the problem,...

Depends upon the speed of the discs you are buying and the speed of your burner and the quality of the discs you buy.
I have a 20x burner, buy 16x DVD's and I still burn at 4x. Just habit for me.
That was all said when one was only buying 8x Discs and had slower burners.
All my discs work fine still today, and I have never had to reburn them.
The rule was half the speed of the disc. That is kinda like 3-5 yrs ago, lol.
Just as DL DVD+R I burn at 2.4x or 4x
I have burned them faster only to waste a disc.
