Any luck anyone?
No.
I recall that the earlier Capcom games did support HDD install and there was a patch that you can use non Sony HDDs to install games like Final Fantasy X, the BBNav Untilities, and Capcom vs SNK 2. I forgot how that processed work but I wonder if it would bring new light on this subject.
if i install HDL on an official Sony HDD and then install this game will it work?

Only if someone could figure out the proper instalation patch to have the game install (not via HDL/HDA) via the in game HDD mode, just like the FFX and the Capcom vs SNK 2 patches; then someone would also how to figure out how to boot the disc to boot to the other partition. Dangit, I just want to buy a JPN PS2 so I can just install that game on the HDD.

You may change your console ID numebr to a japanses one with the paradox consile Id changer.
Also i patched the game with the ATAD.IRX patcher but no luck it doesn't change anything. Since we don't know what's happening in the PS2 memory when it hangs on, there's no chance to find a clue.

Also, with the ATAD.IRX patch, I guess you still couldn't be able to install it in In game mode. Well somehow I do have a Sony brand PS2 hard drive so I wonder that would work too. As I recall for the ATA.IRX patch, you would also have to have a patched HDD when you first configured it (before there was HDL).
Thanks for trying though![]()
In order to change your console ID to japanese, try to find the "console id changer" iso then install it on your hard drive as you do with any other game.
Then you launch it it ask you to change the number. Go see at psxforums.net, there is a thread that explain what numbers you'll have to change.

I can' t guarantee that, i didn't tested, it's only a suggestion since Pocky-Y said installation has failed due to his PS2 is not japanese.
