I don't have a HDD for my PS2, is it possible to play this game from a burned DVD+DL disc with booktype set to DVD-ROM? I've a PSTWO slimline with a Matrix Infinity chip. What disc brand should I use, is Verbatim okay?

man listen..thats the reason why i bought a new ps2 with a HDD.Before i was playing Rogue galaxy on Verbatim dvd+r booktyped and all that.I got a v14 ps2,brand new and modified the day after.Rogue galaxy is a lens hog it WILL weaken ur lens considerably after a weekend of full play.Just stick to dvd-r taiyo yudens man to keep ur lens strong.

Your best bet is playing that beast on the HDD.Believe u me ur doing ur saving ur lens from a beating.Dont run any dual layer media on the ps2 except the original.

I have the laser fix developed by the matrix team installed at my PS2, is it safe to play double layer DVD's? Or does the laser fix only prevent burning my laser due to the production fault from Sony?

The laser fix only helps from the lens from burning out.

There was some issue about the lens burning out after a few hours play with the v13 or v12.Its all fixed now with the v14.

Sony gave the ps2 one of the worst and weakest laser in history of consoles and using backups will wear out ur lens but not as fast as DVD+R DL.Take it from a man with experience.Rogue Galaxy is a lens murderer when ur using DL backups.

But if you're that determined to play the game.Go for it! Verbatim is one the best media when it comes to DL backups.Cheers!

I will pass Rogue Galaxy for now, don't want to risk killing my PS2. Lets hope there will be a DVD5 rip soon.

    Thanks for your help!
