Ratchet Gladiator aka PAL's Deadlocked

I put it onto my HDD using HDloader.
I tried varies modes and found it requires mode 3 but it always freezes after saving

The only way to get past it is as soon as it loads remove the memory card to disable auto-saving and then put the memory card back in to save right before I finish playing.

Ratchet Gladiator (PAL), saving and autosaving gave me no problem

. HDL 0.7c mode 3.
