possible to shrink god of war?
possible to shrink god of war? –

hey there folks, i've searched around for a while, and haven't been able to find an answer to this. the large gow thread is a little confusing to read thru too, since the hdl patches changed some of the relevant info... anyways....
i have an original GOW disc, and i made an iso using DVD decrypter, but the file is huge, like almost 8gb! i know almost everyone uses the CoNfUsIoN downloaded version, but i was wondering if there was a way to manually shrink it down, i tried the regular way using isobuster and cdgenPS2, but that just created a file of the same size.
anyone have any idea how to shrink the iso down? it doesn't seem like theres a full 8gb of data on it...

In order to shrink it, I think some movies were downsampled and some bonusfeatures removed. It'll require some reprogramming in the game itself; it'd be better to download that Confusion release you heard about.

yeah, sonic created a tool and some tutorials to take it down to a dvd5. the simplest way involves just cutting out the 'extras' video files and a couple others, then relink them.
that's the way i have it on my hdd too, no need to waste an extra 2-3gb just for 'extras' bs.

Yeah the warez version is missing the extras videos but works perfectly, zero load times or lags.
The HD gets quite warm after playing

Is it possible to decrease size of the iso without downsampling ?
There are some dummy duplicated files and other languages to delete in the *pak files to take less space on the hard disk drive.
Someone already try it ?

thanks a lot folks! i've only got an 60gb hard drive, so every little bit of space helps!

hm the game just froze at a save area. Its the one right after climbing up to the pandoras box castle on the guys back.
Going to try skipping that save completely.

hi all i dont post often but here is what i have and did,
firstly i copied my pal retail god of war to my hd loader hard drive , ive got the 0.7 c latest elf file booting up, any way when i transferred it i notiiced that the copy was only 3.75gb in size, i didnt know at the time that the disk is nearly 8gb in size, i just wanted it to go on to the hard drive so it would boot/load faster. anyway, i was browsing through the various hd loader related sites and it seems hat everybody has a problem backing it up, remembering thet when transferred it it was only 3.7gb in size, i began to wonder so i took the hard drive out of the ps2 and took the god of war image off of it with winhiip and the image still stayed at 3.7gb i burned this image back onto a dvd with dvd decrypter and lo and behold the damn thing works. ive been playing it for the past 2 hours with the backup disk, i have a modchip"messiah 2" by the way too
