Is it lag like the sound appears faster than what is happening on screen? To me it only happens on cutscenes in GTA:SA. The solution is when you are going to a hotspot to trigger a cutscene, walk slowly into the circle. I noticed that if I ran into the circle, I would experience the lag. As for Star Ocean, I haven't experienced any.
This problem occurs because the game is being read faster than on a disk.
Thanks for the response.
It mainly happens when there is a lot of traffic. Everything goes slower at that moment. I find this a little weird to happen because I'm never experiencing lag on my xbox when using hdd.
As for Star Ocean I get some lag when I move the camera, or in cutscenes.
I do not have any sound problems at all.
Am I using some kind of wrong version of hdloader?
probably, since i havent experienced any lags in gta:sa ever...
Weird... I thought I got the right version of hdloader.
I did not notice any lag during the cutscenes of Star Ocean, however, there was occasional lag when moving across the world map when too many enemies were displayed at once. At the time, I assumed this was just a result of the PS2 lacking enough processing power to display the characters smoothly.
hdloader isn't going to have anything to do with it. either it boots the game or it doesn't, thats it. sounds to me either you're not used to games choking up when alot of action is on screen, or you're using an old slow harddrive.
An old slow HD I would imagine would still be faster than reading from a disk. You could try MODE 1 on HDL which slowls down load times to match DVD read times.
I've found that running San Andreas from the HD increases pop-in textures, when driving fast or flying a plane I dont get buildings or trees popping up in my face they are all loaded fast from the HD which is really cool and a big help in manuaveing and high speed!
Hmmm... thanks for all the reply's!
I think i've got the problem. Maybe the games were lagging because I was using an uncompressed boot.elf. After installing a new packed boot.elf (with toxic 0.2 this time) it worked!
