    I have a 5000xx series fat Ps2 with a net adapter and a 250gb maxtor Hdd.

I'm running freemcboot and have hdloader 0.8c

Most of my games I backed up work but some don't

    The list here
Apparently I can't post links but its the SMS website

Says for example put cold winter in mode3
And fatal frame 3 the music skips like a scratched CD

When I hit select I get a huge list of options but no mode 3

I tried random stuff and got cold winter to boot but some games won't

Any ideas on this mode 3 option

With HDLoader, you need to set the modes for the games before installing them. I recommend using Open PS2 Loader because of the higher compatibility and because you can set modes from in the program.

OK so openps2 loader is installed
still thinks there's no controller for nfs pro street
the getaway still just acts like there's no controller
Audio is better for fatal frame 3
Grand turismo 4 doesn't work now

It says on the compatability list those 2 games should just work

Seems like a better program but where is a good comparability list with settings for the games

Re-rip the games that don't work and reinstall them. If at all possible I would use Winhiip.

If I remember correctly, in the options screen, you count down the list to the one you need to activate for that particular game. Option 1 = Mode 1, Option 2 = Mode 2, so on...

But, You should switch to OPL, its has much better compatibly for games and doesn't require Modes nearly as often, if ever.

Turn off your computer first, then remove the PS2 HDD and attach it to the computer. Turn your computer back on and run Winhiip. In Winhiip, select the PS2 HDD, then select the ISO's you want to install, then click install. After Winhiip installs the ISO's, you can edit them. If you can't attach the PS2 HDD to your computer, your other option would be to use hdl_dump to install the games over network.
