Metalliogre, maybe the problem is with your PS2 version. I heard of games working with one model and not working with another.
My PS2 is a v5, NTSC.
Also I´m using HDLoader 0.8b.
I used the method to get an ISO (not even with the correct boot sector for SYSTEM.CNF) with ImgBurn and installed with WinHIIP. My PS2 is a V3 and I've played almost every song. Every song previews too. No freezes whatsoever yet. HDLoader 0.8c
To my knowledge installing a dual layer is possible without flattening. Correct me if i'm wrong but i used Lord Bogami HDLDump_GUI_2.1 for that.
Last winhip and hdldump both support dvd9 games. If the game doesn't work it may be beacuse a compatibility issue for itself, not for being a dual layer one.
Even if you "Flaten" a duel layer ISO and burn it to a duel layer disk the LBA/TOC will not change..
This is do to the DVD9 still reading the disk as a "Flat" image even thou its over 4.7GB's..
Make sure you enable MODE 2 with in HDLoader in order to make the game work within HDL..
Again this ISO will not work as the legit format as a duel layer (DVD9) ISO with HDL..
You must rebuild the ISO and merge the .arx files into one folder to make the ISO work with HDLoader..
DVD burn doenst matter..
You can rebuild if you wish however the ISO will play no matter if its the legit TOC/LBA or the Rebuild version..
If burned to a DVD it has to be a blank DVD9 disk thou sents its still over 4.7GB's..
Hope this clears some more things up for everyone..

I can confirm that it works with Rock Band and Rock Band 2.
Read the disc out with Imgburn or Ultra Iso as Standard Iso File.
Extract with Apache 3 both layers to a empty folder.
All ARK files must be in the GEN folder.
With Ultra Iso chose from file menu "New > PS2 DVD Image".
If requestet choose the SYSTEM.CNF file from the extracted stuff.
Go to the file menu and choose Properties.
Select "Media > 8.5(7.95)GB".
Save as Standard Iso File.
Install it to HD with disable DVD9 Support (Mode 2).
Tested with Ultra Iso 8, Apache 3, WinHiip 1.7.6 and HDLoader 0.8c on V3 PS2.
If you want to keep all label entries from the original Iso.
Open the original iso with Ultra Iso.
Delete all file and folders.
Select "Media > 8.5(7.95)GB".
Add all extracted files and folders.
Save as Standard Iso.
Rock Band is a good complement for my music games harddrive.
But now there are almost too many controllers and instruments in the room.![]()
Was using DVD5 version fine, until I tried Colony Of Birchmen by Mastodon, gets about 30 seconds into the song then hangs. Is this just me, should I try rebuilding the DVD9 again?
