Dragon Quest 8

Has anyone experienced any issues with Dragon Quest 8?

I know it's supposed to be 100% compatible with HDL 0.8+, and that's what I had always thought was true, as I've been playing it entirely off of HD for over 40 hours of game time with no issue. But now, I have just gotten to the point when you can ride around on the sabrecat, and discovered that after about a minute of getting on the sabrecat, a loud, scratchy noise comes out of the speakers, until you get into battle or get off the cat. It seems to be linked to the music that plays while riding the cat, since it starts right back up after the battle is over.

I put the actual DVD in my drive and tried it by playing off of that, and there's no issue what-so-ever when I get on the sabrecat. Only when playing from the HD. I know it was a good rip from the DVD and install, and I didn't try doing any shrinkage, I made/installed a 100% clean image, so that's not the cause... I've tried MDMA0 too, as well as several mode switches to see if any of them would help, no dice.

Has anyone else experienced the issue?

Yeah, I also experienced this but it didn't really affect my enjoyment of the game and it didn't happen much.

I'm not that far yet... but I will be soon. Have you tried a different version of HDLoader?

i've been riding with the cat for 10 mins or so, exploring the map and haven't encountered those noises you heard, why don't you try installing the game again
