Anyone tried to download the 0.41 upgrade? the elf file is 1.7 MB,
the elf is big enough to contain everything,
not just the diff between 0.4 and 0.41
It will not run by itself, but if we can find out which pieces are checking for modchip and which pieces are checking for already installed 0.4, it might run.
On 2nd thought, it might require Toxic BIOS :-(
The ELF is just an installer, that's all it is. And while it does contain the ToxicOS code, you'll never be able to extract it.
Btw, Toxic OS 0.3 is still more advanced that HDL 0.7c. Xenosaga II still only works on Toxic OS 0.3/4/41, and not on HDL 0.7c.
Why not? If this installer can install to the location where ToxicOS is located, it probably could also be reversed? My only real problem here, philosophically, is whether the Toxic OS can or cannot run without ToxicBIOS.
That is if I solve the puzzle of getting the binary of ToxicOS,
will I also have to extract the ToxicBIOS to have ToxicOS run?
ToxicBIOS is included within ToxicOS.
In theory if you wanted to make it all work, you'd have to write an elf that emulates the calls that the installer makes to the DMS chip and then tells it that the flash memory is a directory on the memory card. And then after it installs (assuming you can get that far) you'd have to use the indy-exploit to load the ELF that then would load your ToxicOS.elf file and would periodically tell it that there was a DMS4 chip present.
Not xenosaga 2 only, dbz budokai tenkaichi too and other games too they works with core 0.3 but, why the 0.3 core isn't released ? sheet !!

We may get decoded code by home-brew program.
The real-time dump program is made by 'Project-fao' in Japan.
However, it has not been released for everyone.
If this technology can apply to ToxicOS, we may get decoded code.
I bet Sjeep is laughing right now, I doubt ToxicOS 0.4+ will ever be decrypted and integrated into HDL.
Who cares. The differences are SO minimal.
All it has meant to me up to this point is that I had to play Shadow of the Colossus on DVD-R. Boo frickin' hoo!
there's streamign code in 0.3 and 0.4 that is not present in hdloader yet.
amoth other notable tricks, it lets the music work right in Midnight CLub 3 DUB edition, i think. nothing has helped in hdlaoder, but works fine in toxic.
i think there ae some that work in hdloader but not toxic, though... hard to say what ones.
I think if everyone stopped trying to crack Toxic OS and started trying to help getting the open-source HDDemolisher up and running we would soon have a much more compatible, much more configurable, much more fun and better program.
Just imagine, with an open source HDD Iso launching program you could add all sorts of bells and whistles, password protections and age restrictions for instance. Or screen and cover shots, parental locks and all sorts of indexing and cataloging options.
So, anyone who has any PS2 and HDD programming knowledge, go help romz. I'm especially looking at you Zero-X and crazyc, your work on HDL was amazing, with all your knowledge from that you should be able to help alot with the open-source HDD project.
