I can confirm that this game works without modes. However, there is a slight sound bug that occurs when you use the batarang in certain levels. The sound doesn't stop and gets very irritating. However, it can be resolved by just resetting the ps2 and starting from the previous checkpoint in the game. Maybe it just happens to me. Other than that, there is no freezing whatsoever from beginning to end.

i got the same sound problem, so your not alone. the game is great so far, and no freezing yet.

what version of hdl do you have? what is the size of the image file? have you tried any modes? the game works for most that i have talk to on other forums, so maybe you have the wrong image, or if you have tried to make the image smaller it could cause a problems as well.
