AR MAX on HDLoader –
09-29-2006,03:15 AM
Hi,
I've recently installed the latest HDLoader, which works like a charm.
Now I've also put Action Replay Max on the HDD, which works ... sortoff.
It hangs alot ... does anyone know of this problem ?
And ofcourse even better, a fix for it ?
Cheers in advance.

That link is for using the AR Max codes with a game on the HDD, he is using AR Max app on the HDD.
Yes its a known issue of random freezing, AFAIK there is no fix.

And thanks JNABK. Too bad for the fix. I might give Codebreaker a go then.

AR Max will freeze off the hard drive if you have a network cable plugged in. That is what I experienced.

If you are using the AR Max for gamesaves only then editing the SYSTEM.CNF file is the best way to go , loading time will be much faster then.
This is how i did it : BOOT2 = cdrom0:\MEMRES\MAXMEM.ELF
Don't do like i did , deleting savegames on the memorycard with AR Max , you might end up with an emty memorycard.
It's also possible to add your own background music
The INTRO.MP3 is not an standard mp3 so you have to convert it, els music will play to fast.
And like allready mentioned, the networkcable plugged in make the program freeze now and then.

Ok, remove the networkcable. I'll give that a shot too
And indeed, I only want to use it to backup savegames.
8MB on a memorycard is not enough :P
Especially with some programs on it ...
Thanks guys. Hopefully I'll have some time today to test it all.

If you want to backup your saves, don't use the crappy Max software! The *.max format is really the worst choice you can make, and the AR MAX program is a big load of shit.
Use LaunchELF (uLE) to backup saves, that's the best software available. The psuPaste function can handle all savegames and you won't risk loosing all your MC content when using uLE.

Does uLE handle game savs with time and date stamping like GTA SA?

I experienced the freeze without a Network Cable plugged in as well as with it plugged in. I even tried USB Advance with it on a USB HDD and it still freezes. I shrunk mine by removing the INTRO and DUMMY files (Big.dat, bigger.dat, etc) i forget the size, 78MB i think.
But i agree with jones, use uLaunchelf if your file managing saves. I found the AR Max was only useful to install the MC exploit& use the codes, but that was before uLuanchelf was updated to what it is today.
