Is there is a difference between hex editing the iso/elf,applying the patch and mode 8?

Ok since no one from those 29 users who saw that thread didn't answer,lest ask in a different way...do I have to apply the patch and after that enable mode 8 or it's needed only one of them?

Well if you have the game,the answer will be simple.
1.Yes you have to patch it and enable mode 8
2.No you need to patch it or to use mode 8
