Oh, also, when putting the PS2 disk into the Mac, I get a message at boot time that Mac OS cannot read the disk with the option to eject, format, or ignore. Which should I choose? I will try again when I get home today, thanks for your help.

Did you format your drive first with HDAdvance or HDLoader ?
Did you play with the "limit to 28bit" option ? Are you sure your HDAdvance or HDLoader is able to use 300 GB HD ?
When Mac OS X ask you what to do with the drive, just Ignore it.

I was using WinHiip on Windows XP before with the same peripherals and my transfer speed was at least 10 times faster !
I don't have USB 1.1 ports so I don't think the problem comes from there.
Any ideas ?
I'm sorry, I have no idea on why your speed is so slow. I'll have a try as soon as I find a IDE to USB converter.
One thing : if you can put your hand on a FireWire to IDE converter instead, it should work better (that's what I used to do my test for the first version of XDumb, and it was much faster than network).

Yoc,
I'm wondering if your program is for PPC or a UB? I'd assume that since I have a Intel Mac, it's running under 'Rosetta'. The program is and looks great but just runs sluggish on my Macintel. Please advise...thanks!

No, it's universal binary. Both XDumb.app and hdl_dump are compiled with PPC and Intel binaries since 0.9.7. If you want to check this, just do a get info on the app.

What is sluggish exactly ? The trasfert speed or the whole application ?

New version of XDumb.
XDumb 0.9.9
- Now based on 0.8.6 version of hdl_dump. There is no update of hdld_svr.elf, so stay on 0.8.5 for the PS2 side.
- You can now rename a game (thanks to new version of hdl_dump) by double cliking on the name cell on the game list. Disabled if you select 0.8.2 version of hdl_dump.
- Thanks again to hdl_dump 0.8.6, you can now send a dual-layer DVD directly from the drive
- Settings panel have been a little reorganized.
- some bugs corrected.
