WTF? HDLoader on MC - Games error on install

Ok what am I doing wrong? New to the MC HDloader thing. Own the original disk too.

Got a nice new Maxtor 120. Set to master.
DMS3 with 2.3.
V9 PS2
HDLoader.elf unpacked with the HEX edit to stop the user agreement from showing.

I loaded the elf to the MC. I boot and get the format screen. It frooze on format screen for over 15 minutes.
-I restarted then the elf booted fine. and went to the HDD screen.
-Every game I try to install just errors at somepoint on installation.
-What am I forgetting here? am I missing a patch or something?
-DID a search on the forums and can't find a similiar problem.

Is it possible you hex edited the ELF wrong?

I would try formatting the HD over with either HD Tool or DMS HDDFRMT tool. It shouldn't have frozen on any screen as I also have a new Seagate 120 and a fresh format takes less than a minute.

Checked the HEX again and it seems ok.

Did the DMS HD Tool format with no luck.

Humm..

So It should work with no issues right?
