I'm new to the PS2 world as of last week, purchased a V10 PS2 and installed a magic5 chip, have a working copy of hdloader on a NA/Maxtor 80GB HD, everything is working great, backups and hdd games work flawlessly
i've read it's possible to keep hdloader on the memcard and i even downloaded a package including a hdloader.elf which i was supposed to input a disc id into the title file, however my dvd rom doesn't read ps2 dvds... is there a better resource for me to figure out how to do this?
furthermore, since my chip disables the NA i can't go online with backups, but if i were to put the game on HD and boot from the memcard to hdloader would i be able to do this disabling the chip os the NA would function?
thanks

thanks for the FAQ, i'm experimenting now... howcome if i transfer one of my backups from the internet namely a .iso that ended up on my hd some how, WinHIIP will transfer it fine but HDloader will not boot it?
seeks the HD a few times and stays black?

Check and see if the game is compatable with hdloader.

try one of the modes by pressing select on the chosen game. also i dont really see a point for you to use the mem card version of hdloader boost..it really is useless to you and takes up an extra 1 mb on your mem card. you can boot your disc directly so theres no point in needing the mem card version. its only for ppl with swap or no mods so they can play w/o needing to do alot of swapping.

burnout 3 requires mode 3 to run. ANd you wont be able to play the NFSU demo either

EXCELLENT, didn't know about enabling modes, SWEET

so might as well stick to the cdr boot for hdloader?
i was just trying to find a way to utilize online gaming with either backups or hdloader games :/

nope its impossible boost. by using hdloader you render the NA inactive and basically its just a very fat and weird looking plug to connect the HDD to the ps2. i cant remember where i read it but there doesnt seem to be a way to fix that either so basically saying "it is impossible to play online games with HDLoader"
