Nice! I was looking for pictures of someone mounting a 2.5 drive internally. Too bad about having to remove the laser; then again you don't need to worry about laser problems.
I measured up an IBM laptop drive today. I think I could get the whole assembly (hard drive, 2.5 to 3.5 converter, etc) to fit inside the PS2 network adapter. It may take some slight dremel work, and cutting some holes between the ridges would make good venting. Then put male ide and molex plugs on the adapter so you could hook it up to your computer without removing the drive from the case!
Anyway, if the HDD was inside the "Sony Playstation HDD" labeled network adapter, and could be easily plugged in (and quickly removed), I think that it would look the best; no parts sticking outside (except female ide & molex plugs, which could be recessed with some more effort). If you have a network adapter you can get an idea of how it will look by putting it next to the PSTwo.
Whenever I get a hold of a slimline again (room mate stole it) this is the first thing I'm going to do to it.
