Awesome Release, I do beleive this is THE best programs out there for the PS2 and it's Hard Drive.

Though I've had some problems with it, on two drives.

Both drives (60gig Western Digital and a 20gig Maxtor) have been formated with either HD Advance or WinHIIP, files have been moved to them with WinHIIP and then I replace it into my PS2. When I start HD Advance or HD Loader I get the prompt to reformat the hdd saying that is hasn't been formated. I take them out of the Ps2 Without formating them again and put them back into the PC to check if the partition is really there, and well It is. Heh heh so has anyone any idea about this? I'm not sure whats causing this.

It sounds like something on your PC is writing to the Master Boot Record, but if that was the case when the drives were plugged back in the PC WinHIIP would also complain that they were not PS2 formatted. If you have formatted a drive with WinHIIP, you will get the copyright message inHDL the first time you boot it because the Machine ID will be updated on the drive.
Most of the problems of this nature are caused by utilities on the PC such as virus scanners, drive temperature monitors and any other background program installed that uses the hard drive.

Is there a way to change the format of a ps2 HDD so a pc can read/detect it?

in relation to strago's comment. i was having the same problem so i thought it was the actual hd, so i got another one and it did the same thing. so i tried winhiip and it said there was an error in the partition or something so i let it format it again. then i went to this thread and saw your comment about something changing the mbr so i immediately blamed norton ghost and uninstalled it. now it works perfectly. too bad i lost all my bloody ps2 games and had to go thru all that trouble of getting a new hd. oh well. DONT INSTALL NORTON GHOST 2005! thanks alot for helping me fix my hard drive tho!

I just used this for the first time yesterday, I am very impressed with it. I formatted a new HDD and installed 16 games with no problems whatsoever. Great work!
