You do realize once its formatted for the PS2, its normal that it wont display in your PC's "My Computer"....right?

And you also realize that if you do re-format it thru disk management like everyone is explaining, you will loose the ability to use it in the PS2?

Im just taking your question as you think somethings wrong because its not displaying as a drive on your PC, but rest assured that is normal. The PS2 format isnt supposed to display on a PC.

Just thought i'd mention all that incase you just didnt know why.

this happened to me yesterday and i was wondering why my comp wouldn't display the drive anymore.

is there anyway to manage the files on a ps2 formatted hard drive then while on the pc? i just got a 750gb external and i'd hate to have to dedicate the entire thing to just ps2 images

No, there isnt any easy way to use your PC to manage regular files on a PS2 Formatted HDD, only the installed PS2 games. There are a few 'experimental' apps that were made, but they are very risky to use as they can corrupt the entire HDD.

Using uLaunchELF on your PS2 is the best way to manage your files [non-PS2 games] and you can easily use a USB stick for copy/pasting files to & from your PC. You can even network your PS2 to your PC and use the Host feature of uLaunchELF for file management and interaction with your PC.

You wont be able to use both PC file systems and PS2 format file sytems together, only one or the other will work on an internal IDE HDD.
