Updated to V1.6.6
I have just uploaded a new version @ http://forums.psxforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=22748

Whats new since V1.6.5:
Corrected a bug that caused the program to hang after extracting images.
Modification of the MBR code to stop the erasing of the DMS HD Explorer V1.31 signature data.
PPF patching/un-patching of installed images.
Extended the ReadMe file to include a full explanation of the various errors WinHIIP can report.

I have mirrorred the file here as a courtesy to everyone.

It would be nice if it had a "defrag" option, to recover the space that has been lost.

Actually there is no space that is being lost. The only problem is, that a new game could be fragmented during installation if there is not enough contiguous free space to fit the whole game. But in any case that is not so big problem as people think, since the smallest possible chunk size is 128MB compared to the typical cluster size of 4KB in the FAT32 or NTFS file systems.

Any idea why HDLoader wouldn't detect the partitioned drive (both with and without an iso on it) when inserted? I had the problem where HDLoader wouldn't detect the drive unless it was first formated with WinHIIP, but then it would format it itself and lock up...once I get my next ps2 soon I'll try with a diff. drive (all my used/unused drives are full lol).

No,

Read the Read me file (inside the zip), If that doesnt help you search the forums.

After some frustration with the drive spinning up *after* HDL told me the drive was messed up, I finally read the FAQ on HDL and set the jumper to master

BUT that was done before all the stuff above was tried.

Let me rephrase the first sentence: HDL won't detect a WinHIIP-formated drive AS a formated drive - it sees it as an unformated drive. It then auto-formats, but essentially freezes. I know its a 5400rpm drive, but formatting can't take over 10 minutes...

The funny thing is that after I used WinHIIP to format and instal GTA5 and was forced to format it again by HDL, WinHIIP then reported that it had no HDL partition or whatever. When I get my new ps2/chip, I'll definately be trying a different drive.

Wow, this program just killed nearly a dozen games on my HD. Everything worked fine in HDLoader, but upon connecting the drive to a PC as slave and startip up WinHIIP, it would tell me that there was no HDL settings partition. First I ignored it but the tool wouldn't find any games partitions, so I chose to create the HDL settings partition. Then another error message came up saying that some partition data was corrupt and it needed to be restored. I chose yes and ended up with all my games converted to 128MB partitions rendering them totally useless. Great program indeed ...
