Is there a command line utility that provides similar functionality as winhiip under linux or mac os?
I definately need something for OS X... I am going to try the FTP thing once it is feasible but the problem is that I need to boot it with the Linux RTE and I can't do that because I don't have a suitable cross-compiler set up on OS X...can someone please try to make a low level utility similar to winhiip?
I am really interested by this either, is ther any news about a tool to transfer ps2 games to the HDD from a mac ? (except virtual PC)
Many many thanks in advance if the answer is yes
Just as Sitarane said the only sollution so Far is to use a PC emulator and install all applications to Mac or LInux. For Linux I recommend VMware Workstation and for Mac the only one that exists is VirtualPC(There is also the WINE but I have never Used it). They work extremely well even thought the Vmware is best at networking. As for WinHIIP you must access the HD directly.Virtual Pc does not do it but I think Vmware does. Now for linux users there is an alternative but it may take you some time. You can use Bart's Pe builder to create a version of windows (2000 or xp) that is Booted from CD-Rom.Then you can do the job without the need of emulation and when done you can restart the system to return to Linux.
personally is better hdldump that has native linux macosx support
I also use hdldump on Linux, you can even compile your own one (e.g. for Linux PPC)...
This is a work in progress:
Native MacOS X port, there will be the same endian issues with LinuxPPC too:

It's been a week now that I'm using HDL Dump with virtual PC and I have to say it works just fine . I just had to connect my PS2 to my ethernet router and launch HDL Dump, the first time I ran the program, the program had access to my PS2 drive, which was a very good surprise, I thought I would have a few more hours of configuration process.
The real hard part for me was to install HDL Server on my memory card but this has nothing to do with Mac itself. I own an X-Port and used the X-Port program on Virtual PC to transfer the ELF of HDLDump server
I advise mac users to install "Virtual PC additions" under "PC" menu in Virtual PC so you can directly use your PS2 image files on your mac partitions with HDL Dump.
Hope it helps mac users .
