    Hey all,

I bought a 200gb seagate drive, worked great with the network adapter in that uLaunchELF could detect the drive. I formatted the drive through winhiip (48-bit and 28-bit) and then when I reconnected the drive, none of my programs could see it. I confirmed this by using an old 40gb seagate I had laying around, same thing. put it in, ps2 could see it. Formatted it with winhiip, ps2 had no idea it was there.

Is there something I can do to reverse this or is it some issue with winhiip? I've tried quick formatting to ntfs, right now I'm doing a full format.

    Also, I have a scph-10281

    Thanks

nothing should come up until you create a new partition with ule, and you need to format it as 48-bit. I know by default ule will not show you the HDL partitions

I can't seem to even initialize the drive with ule, I tried the format option but it says "error initializing drive..." or something to that effect

I've been using another 40gb seagate drive I haven't formatted yet as a gauge, the ps2 still recognizes it... Yet when I pop in the other 2 drives that previously showed up as well before reformatting through winhiip, they don't even show up as connected.

And just now I did a full format on the 40gb that wasn't working back to NTFS and it still doesn't show up now.

could it be that I have a flaky NA? I don't see why partition changes would make the drive invisible to the ps2...

EDIT: I see the yellow light flash indicating the ps2 does recognize the hardware, but ule and sms, hdl, etc... they all don't see the drive.

Some PC's seem to have problems using cheap brands of USB to IDE cables and are the cause of such issues with Winhiip. I too used a USB to IDE cable at one point and it worked ok for a short while, then i had the exact same problem as you. Others have also reported similar or same issues with a usb to ide cable.

I was able to fix the issue by connecting the HDDs to an internal dual ribbon on the IDE channel, then reformatted with Winhiip and installed games. No issues as yet since then. If you have no way to connect inside on a ribbon, i'd suggest getting a USB enclosure (removable HDD) instead of the cable, as they are more reliable.
